Quaranta

Produced during the Covid pandemic beginning in 2020, this piece was an ongoing meditation on the genre of the vanitas, the ephemeral nature of life, which was particularly evident during the lockdown. The forty 4” diameter cyanotype prints, referencing the number of days sailors were quarantined on boat before they could enter Venice during the plague, cover a wide range of responses to the moment, but mostly take their cues and gestures from Renaissance painting.
